Before we start, gather the following tools and materials:

• A piece of hose to plumb away the urine
• Cuddy composting toilet
• Drill with a hole saw for your hose
• Pilot drill
• 3.5-millimeter drill bit
• Phillips screwdriver

Inside the Drain Away Kit

The Drain Away Kit includes:

• A bracket to mount the kit
• The urine drain, which snaps into the bracket
• A 5/8 hose fitting (standard in North America)
• Small screws and bolts
• A Jubilee clip to secure the hose

Step 1: Secure Your Cuddy Composting Toilet

First, you need to secure your Cuddy composting toilet in place. This step is crucial because you don’t want to remove the hose and open it up frequently. Use four screws to secure the Cuddy to the floor through the islets provided.

Step 2: Prepare the Inside of the Cuddy

Remove the solids bin, fan, and urine bottle from inside the Cuddy for convenience. This will give you more space to work.

Snap the top part of the drain into the bracket. This may require some force. Then, attach the top ring to ensure everything is clear before the final installation. Make sure the front edge of the bracket is flush with the front of the seat.

Reinsert the valve into the drain. Apply a bead of silicone around the inside to help seal it and hold it in place. The drain can be directed left or right of the central agitator shaft. Snap on the valve to finalize the connection.

Drill a hole in the base of your Cuddy composting toilet to route the hose. Ensure your drill is set to rotate in the correct direction.

Step 10: Attach the Hose

Slide the hose over the adapter and secure it with the Jubilee clip. Tighten the clip to ensure a snug fit. Route the hose to your desired drainage location.
